August 2011 Moms

I was just thinking about high school...

...and was remembering when I used to give handwritten notes to my friends and boys I had crushes on. My, have times changed!

I remember having a crush on a certain boy, and would write him cute notes, fold them in a funky triangle with a heart drawn on top, and slip them in his locker. I remained anonymous for a while, and then finally revealed myself. He was the popular jock that would never look at me, and I was the nerdy skater girl. One day he wrote me back and said "I want your body. You are sexy."
LOL!

Of course he was teasing me and didn't mean it, but it make me melt nonetheless.

The funny part? He found me on Facebook about a year ago saying how he always thought I was cute, but was afraid to date the "unpopular girl", and he is single and interested. Too late now, buddy! HA!

  • I could NEVER picture you being unpopular! You are a sweetheart and a major hottie Wink

  • High school wasn't that long ago for me lol. But maaaaannnn do I have some stories I'm sure I will laugh about later that are not funny right now.

I fell down the stairs at graduation...It still makes me blush just thinking about it.

  • Its my ten year reunion this year and no I will not be going. I never felt like I fit in. I always had boyfriends from the public school(lil catholic girl over here)and hung out with the public school crowd on the weekend.

...Now college on the other hand, that was fun! I wouldn't mind redoing that stage of my life!

Well..I wasn't a total outcast, but I was definitely not welcomed where the jocks/cheerleaders hung. I was the nice, artistic, quiet girl that had no sense of style. LOL!

I could have written this myself! I also didn't go to my 10 yr for the same exact reason.

I also had an awesome college life. Man-- the times I had! (sigh)

I shouldn't have worn new 3 inch heels, it was my own fault. If I bring it up, I can laugh, if anyone else does though...whole other story.

  • Aw, I love it! I bet you were adorable :) I think I'm one of the older ladies on this board because I also attended before kids had cell phones. And the Internet was new-ish. I remember doing research for papers in the public library. We had to cite "real" sources - not Internet articles! Haha

  • I have my 10 year reunion on Friday and I am going.

I was not super popular but I did get along really well with everyone and had lots of friends from different groups and grades.

I was also a total jock haha. I did 4 years of 3 seasons for sports (field hockey, track and softball). My senior year I was probably the best field hockey player in our league (sorry that sounds conceded but its true haah)

Funny story... My mom was on school committee in my town so I got away with MURDER in school haha. One time I decided to cut class and go home during my study hall. I walked home (we lived right behind the school). When i got home, the phone rang, and out of habit, i answered it! Well it was my vice principal! He told me to come back to school haha. So I went back and went into his office. He just laughed at me and told me never to do it and and said we wouldn't tell my mom because he knew she would freak out haha

OMG...you were so lucky! My mom would have killed me.

  • 10 year reunion coming up for me, too. I'd maybe go, but it's on Jackson's birthday, and it's just not that important to me. haha.

I graduated a year early, so I was stuck between 2 classes. I had friends with lots of different groups and played sports. It wasn't a bad time in life, but it wasn't great either. in fact, I didn't enjoy life until after college. I love my life now and crack up at all the craziness I used to get myself into. Not to mention, how many times I thought my world was ending. oh geeze.

  • I graduated half way through my senior year, but during that part year I skipped all the Fridays but one. The deans pulled me in on my 18th birthday and attempted to suspend me and not allow me to graduate.. BUT since I was 18 they couldn't! Talk about perfect timing. My parents were in the office when I was pulled in and everything.. Not exactly a great moment but it was the only time my mom did something cool for me.. She vouched and said that all my 'sick notes' were actually written by her even though the handwriting was obviously different.

Same here I was in OAC(basically grade 13for kids that wanted to do university in Ontario) in 1999. And until I got to ontario I was bullied. Vancouver sucked for me. Like had gravy poured on my head in the cafe. I made one awesome friend and we are still BFFs to this day! Once we got her I got in to a great school with awesome friends and became the schools star. In drama and in swimming. I try not to think of high school much:( but it did make me the person I am today and I don't ever judge anyone before I give them a chance because of high school.
