Hello! I usually hang out on the March 2012 board, but I figure that I am close enough to B-Day that I should start talking to you ladies.
I am hoping to do a natural birth. It's definitely my goal and I'm going to do everything I can to avoid interventions. Of course, I have no idea what it's going to be like once I'm in the moment, especially since this is my first go-around, so we'll see. I have a decent tolerance for pain, but from what I understand, that's really only a small part of what determines how you will handle birth!
I had originally wanted to have a midwife, but my insurance doesn't cover one and we can't afford it out of pocket. Luckily, I have a very understanding OB who has a lot of experience with natural birth.
Well, I guess that's about it...excited to get to know you all!
Re: New here!
Hi! Im new to this board too! (though not new to birth ;0) )
I had an epi with my 1st and natural with my 2nd and am going to a birth center for this one. Good luck with your labor and delivery! Just remember it is INTENSE and even though it wont feel like it sometimes, it will end, the pain will stop and you'll be holding your beautiful baby. :0) Birth is amazing.
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
That's exactly what my mom told me! She had epidurals with both me and my brother...but they didn't work! She said as soon as she thought she couldn't continue, that was the moment she realized she could push and felt a million times better. Gives me hope :-)
