So AF arrived yesterday so iui #3 was a bust and my best cycle so far. I have an apt w/ RE next Wed for our ivf consultation. I just read over the newbie list to see if there were good questions but didn't see any. I am just starting to read up on ivf so anything that has helped you would be appreciated. I am sorta lost here andwant to be prepared wit my questions.
We are moving on to ivf so soon becasue of my age/diabetes and insurance coverage. My insurance only covers 3 iui, 1 fresh ivf and 2 frozen cycles (I realize I am lucky for this becasue alot of you don't have any insurance coverage).
Re: Ivf consult next week
I just went for our IVF consult with out RE a month or so ago. Our RE made it really easy because he got out diagrams and showed us how the whole process worked! This was particularly helpful for MH who knew NOTHING about IVF. I think the only questions I had was what meds I would be on, how long it would take from start to finish, success rates & percentages of having multiples, what to do to prepare (tests to get, etc) and what is and is not covered by my insurance. Best of luck!

June/July 2011 100 mg Clomid + TS IUI#1 & IUI 2 - BFN :-(
Forced break due to DH getting spinal surgery in August 2011
IVF - January 2012: BFN
FET in April 2012 - BFP at 6dp5dt! Beta #1 at 9dp5dt: 82.5, Beta #2 at 12dp5dt: 352 Beta #3 at 19dp5dt: 6000, saw heartbeat and one little bean at 5W6D!
After nearly 3 years of waiting our LO was born December 18th 2012!
I found that my RE pretty much explained everything during our consult that I didn't really have to ask a lot of questions. They do this day in and day out - so they are pretty experienced with explaining the process. My only advice is to make sure your husband is with you so he can hear everything too. And after that I used the IVF nurses to ask any additional questions I had along the way.
Good luck!

I am sorry you IUI#3 didn't work. I am currently in my 2ww for IUI#2, but if it fails we are moving to IVF (hopefully we get to start in January).
We have similar reasons for moving on. We are lucky to have coverage for IF, but it has a $15,000 lifetime cap on infertility treatment/testing and we want to have as much of that as possible available for IVF instead of slowly eating away at it with multiple IUI attempts
Good Luck!
