IC and braxton hicks?

Anyone here have braxton hicks and an IC? I think I am getting them, but I am not sure because I didn't have them with any of my other pregnancies. But my whole stomach feels hard most of the day but with no cramps. What did your doctor say about them? I have a doctors appt on Wed so I will ask my doctor then.

Re: IC and braxton hicks?

  • I had the same exact question when I was 19-20 weeks along.  I went to the Dr and they thought I was having just some uterine irritability and needed to drink more water.  Now that I am 31 weeks I am having braxton hicks and they feel the same way as UI so I think that it was BH all along.  Also I thought that maybe it was the baby turning or rolling in my stomach because it would get hard in one spot only.  The one thing that they said was so long as it wasn't changing my cervix then I was okay.  Last time my cervix was checked, which was 1.5 week ago, it was measuring 4.5cm long.  I still get very anxious when I have them!!!  You and I unfortunately lost our babies around the same time in Jan and I am so sorry you had to go through that.  This pregnancy has not been easy at all emotionally and each step has been hard to get through but now that we are monitored so carefully I pray we will be okay this time.  I was seen every week weeks 14-28 and it helped ease my mind.  I would just ask your Dr to check your cervix if they aren't already doing that.

I have IC and a cerclage. I have never had them before so I wanted to know what people with an IC were told if they had them. My cervix is checked every 2 weeks and last time it was at 2.3ish. So  its short. But 4.5 is nice and long. Braxton hicks would prob be normal, but in my case, i dont know. I will ask the doctor tomorrow. Thank you. i am sorry for your loss as well. Its not easy at all. Bed rest sucks and its hard knowing that I could go into labor any time without notice.

IC and cerclage here too...I started getting them at 15-16 weeks w/DS (nothing yet this time).  As long as you don't have 4 or more an hour for 2 consecutive hours it is fine per my high risk dr.  Ask your dr to be sure.
