need ideas for behavior chart

Here are a few of our main issues.

1) makes his choice and then after he makes it, cries becauce he wanted to choose the other thing.  Changing mind!

2)not going potty when asked and always needing me to go with him

3) crying at every.little.thing. (aaah my banana fell on the floor, aaahh I spilled my water, aaaahh you hurt my feelings)

4) throwing tantrums when he's asked to do something, even with giving plenty of warning. (i.e.in 5,3,1 minute were going to leave the playgroun)

5) refusing to go to sunday school, and throwing a fit.

SO...what sort of chaart can I do or does that even work here?

I'm reading 1,2,3 magic but thought I could use a chart also?

I dont know..whats the best way to get a handle on these behaviors?

Re: need ideas for behavior chart

  • For multiple issues, you might use a marble jar and tell him he can earn marbles when he makes good choices (described those in detail...the above) and when he fills his jar he get a treat (reward).

  • We also use a marble jar and catch DD being good throughout the day.  She gets five marbles for staying in her room quietly and not waking up the whole house before the green light turns green (at 5:45AM), she gets marbles for getting dressed by herself without a problem, brushing her teeth, etc, and being kind to her brother.  When she is giving us a hard time, for example, refuses to get dressed, brush her teeth, clean up her toys, or go to school, etc, she is reminded that we will count to five and DD will start losing marbles if she doesn't do x,y,z.  We rarely have to get to 4 and she is doing what she is supposed to be doing, sometimes while crying, but she does it.  She cashes in her marbles for a treat.
