I want to start by saying I went in to the OB today and have a peri appointment tomorrow, so I'm getting all checked out - I just wanted to get some feedback from you ladies.
About a week ago, I started feeling vaginal pressure..over the course of the week it has become more and more noticable. As the day wears on, my uterus feels heavier and heavier and it's pushing right on my cervix. I don't remember feeling this way with my last pregnancy. The OB said my cervix is closed but the peri will measure it tomorrow and do some tests to see if it opens/shortens when they push on my uterus.
Did any of you start out with symptoms like this and end up with a cerclage?
Re: Cerclage ladies - how did it start?
5 REs + 3 surgical hysteroscopies for septum/lap + 3 failed IUIs
IVF w/ICSI/AH & acu = BFP!, unexplained spontaneous m/c @ 8w2d (our little girl),
FET w/acu = BFP!, B/G twins!, lost MP @19w, dx w/funneling cervix @20w,
twins nearly lost to IC @21w, saved by rescue cerclage, 17P & 16w of bedrest
Our twins born @36w4d via CS when A came foot first
Thankful for every day
I lost my first pregnancy due to IC and I realize now that all the pressure, lower back pain and discomfort I was feeling was due to the IC, as they say, hindsight is 20/20. For this pregnancy I got an abdominal cerclage placed at 12w and I do not feel any of the pressure now, that I felt then.
I hope that everything goes well at your perinatologist appointment tomorrow.
Thank you so much for all your responses. I saw the peri today and she said my cervix is at 4 and there is completely closed (no sign of amniotic fluid in the cervix). One of the babies' heads is right on my cervix, though, so I'm wondering if that is what is causing the pressure.
I'm now going to be monitored every 2 weeks instead of 4 by the OB and I go back to the peri in a few weeks. I'll be sure to get myself into that office, though, if I notice any changes before then.
Thanks again for sharing your stories.
