I had horrible carpal tunnel at the end of my pregnancy with Eve. I used wrist braces, especially for sleeping and work since I type a lot. It did go away after pregnancy, but it took about 6 weeks.
I had what I thought was carpal tunnel, starting around 36wks, but it ended up being "mommy thumb" (De Quervain's tendinitis) and it lasted until I went back to work. The "C" shape of your hands that are used to lift, nurse and basically care for baby is what aggravates it. Now my mom (DCP) has a small case of it from lifting DS.
I hope this is not the case for you, but I figured I'd share since I had never heard of it before.
I had it in both hands with both pregnancies. It never went away for me and about 1 month ago I had carpal tunnel surgery in my right hand as that was the most severe. It is now gone and my hand feels soooo much better. The surgery wasn't bad and I never had any pain associated with the surgery. It's now just a little sore and tender, but nothing that makes me not be able to do anything.
Before the surgery, I wore the wrist braces, and did cortizone shots and everything else. Nothing worked for me but the surgery.
Yes I had it as well. I had even aggravated it more when I slammed the garbage can lid on my right hand. I ended up wearing a brace until the end and it really did go away after the boys were born. Although I never really had problems pre-pg, I do experience flare-ups from time to time now.
