I love my baby jogger city select and i got mine last year between thanksgiving and xmas on sale at amazon. Only downsides are its a bit pricy and the lack of cup holders. Right now i have them them in seats (my little one - 7 months); works great.
I have a 15 month old and a 7 week old. We have the City Mini double. We originally didn't want a side by side, but none of the tandems were perfect for us. Turns out I LOVE my CM! It's a great stroller and we haven't had any problems fitting anywhere. Also, my DD (15 month old) loves this stroller too! She sits in it better that she ever sat in her single stroller.
SAHM to the sweetest little girl and boy... I love my job!
I'll be in the same boat and I went with the Britax B-Ready with the second seat. I'm loving it so far, but I still can't get over how much bigger/heavier it is than my City Mini single was... *sniff sniff*
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

This. Couldn't be happier with the Baby Jogger City Mini Double (and I originally thought I wanted a tandem).

We love our Phil and Ted Explorer. It has a couple of cons - it's heavy, you can't really use the basket with a baby in the back, and one kid sits behind the other and has to peek around to see. But it maneuvers the best of any double I've tried (and I've tried a bunch), and can go anywhere a single can go. That was important for us.
I also just bought a double umbrella (side-by-side) for use while traveling, since the P&T really is cumbersome for airports.
My kids are a year and 18 days apart and are currently 13 months and 26 months.
