XP: Moms, your recommendations please.

I'm trying to stock up on everything I'll need for when the girls come home but when it comes to wipes, I'm clueless.  Is there a type you'd recommend?  And as far as medicines and supplies go, I've got Gripe Water, Mylicon, Tylenol, Purell, cotton balls and diaper rash cream.  What else do you use for your DC?

Re: XP: Moms, your recommendations please.

  • Honestly, we have used both the BJs and the Costco brand, and have been very happy with both.  Pampers Sensitive are great if your DCs have sensitive skin or a rash.  I don't really like Huggies- they seem to be too wet, which left DD sort of wet after a change.  My only concrete advice is to get a LOT of them!  They are great for wiping up spills, spit up, etc, as well as diaper changing!  I can't think of any other medications, etc, that we needed.  GL!

  • what is gripe water? we use gas drops all...the....time!!! we like to put a drop in the bottle to get rid of all the air bubbles too :) There is a cheaper brand of it at walgreens that works wonders!

We use sensitive wipes...not sure if huggies or pampers since we had a bulk package and threw away the outer package months ago....

but yes...get as much as you can!?

  • We used the Sam's brand of wipes and diaper since they grew out of the small preemie diapers.  For your medicine stash, get some Aquafor lotion, some original Desitin or Butt Paste, tiny nail clippers, baby wash (we like Aveeno), some regular body lotion for the colder weather, a thermometer, nose sucker and infant tylenol and motrin.
  • I second the nose sucker. Also get some baby lotion, our girls have dry skin after every bath, so we use it all the time (we also have mosturizing bath gell). In terms of whipes I like pampers sensitive, but they seem a bit too dry. I like target brand sensitives though.?

  • I like the Target brand wipes more than the name brands.  Actually quite a bit more than the name brands.

I've never used a cotton ball on them, so you probably don't need those, or I'm doing something wrong.

Add baby wash to your supply list.

Also, you might want to add a lotion like aquaphor, or wait and see if they need it.

  • We use the Pampers sensitive wipes.  They sell them in bulk at Sam's Club.  I would also get some of the baby q-tips.  I use them after the girls bath because they get water in their ears all the time.  They make sure you don't hurt their little ears.  Or you could use the regular kind but just be careful.  We didn't but a bulb aspirator, we just got a few from the hospital.  They are great.
