We are expecting our second son in February and are having trouble on naming him. The only name that we had came to an agreement on was Mason Isaac, but later found out that a little girl due around the same time as my son was to be named Mason, we do not know the family but there would be a chance of them being in school together, so would you stick with Mason or go back to the drawing board? If you have any suggestions on any other boy names please help. DS#1 is named Ryan Weston, middle name for DS#2 will be Isaac after late Grandfather, and last name starts with a C. Some names that have been vetoed by DH are Henry, Nathan and Brennan. Thanks in advance
Re: Help...Baby Boy Name
Well I would ditch Mason because I think it sucks and I don't like how it goes with Ryan.
But I probably wouldn't let the girl being named Mason stop me. It's a boy's name, and their daughter's going to be the one that has to deal.
I like Issac as a first name..but here's some other choices:
Oliver
George
Liam
Calvin
Owen
Finn
Gavin
I agree, she'll be the girl with the boy's name. It's gaining popularity though so there might be another boy named Mason in your son's class. Name your kid what you like.
Mason is a boys name. I feel sorry for that little girl. Dont let someone misusing the name stop you from using it.
I agree. I would stick with Mason Isaac if that is what you and DH agree on.

I agree. That said, I'm not a huge fan of Mason.
I would stick with Mason for a boy, The only reason I might not, is because it is so popular. He is more likely to have other Mason's in his class that are boys.
Mason Isaac
Isaac Mason.......................both are handsome names!
Nah, no matter what you name him there is ALWAYS going to be someone else with the same name. I think Mason is gorgeous. And who knows, maybe the girl Mason will end up being called Maci?!
I'm having the same issue!
We're in a very small town. It's actually my hometown we just moved back to (and planning on staying). A classmate of mine lives in town too and just had a little boy. He named him Ryley. DH and I have been set on Riley for our son for quite a few months now. I feel like we're copying off of this family. It's kinda silly...we're adults. But it does bother me that our sons will be in the same class (of probably around 30 people) and we'll have Ryley D and Riley R. It seems kinda mean...but I guess lives reality. To top it off I can't name another Riley in the area (boy or girl). I know the name is pretty popular...but makes it worse that it isn't popular in our little community.
This all being said I think you're in a better boat because you don't know the family of the other Mason personally.
We're TRYING to stick to our plan of Riley. I'm having a hard time with it but no one owns a name and there's nothing saying that another family won't have a "Riley"...then there would be 3. You know you picked the name before you heard this discouraging news. If the other family has an issue with it they are just being childish. If I run into my classmate I'll probably just play the "great minds think alike" card and play it off as I didn't know about his son's name. Beyond this I already have personalized things purchased...
If you love Mason Issac stick to it! There's nothing saying the other family will be in the community until school age either... There's so many "what ifs" and really...Mason is a pretty common name. It's not like you are naming your son something off the wall that they chose too.
Not a huge fan of Mason but I do like Isaac! Mason to me is the name of a job. I am a mason...
