strong bh/weak real contractions?

a few weeks ago, I was having 4 contractions an hour, very painful and they said b/c I wasn't dilated, they're still considered BH.

Now, I'm having what I think are very very mild contractions which by description sound like the less painful BH contractions.

Does anyone know if there is any relationship btwn the intensity of BH contractions and real contractions when in labor?

I don't know for sure, this is my first pg, but my dodctor said something like real contractions would take your breath away. Sometimes BH hurt me, but I can make them more comfortable by either taking a hot bath or laying a different way. If nothing like that helps then I would consider that a real one. And if you ever question it you can call L&D or jsut go in!

For me, BH contractions are when my belly gets really tight. I wouldn't consider it painful but they are uncomfortable. I usually have to adjust the way I'm sitting/standing and sometimes hold my breath until it passes.. it's my third so they're more intense this time. Real contractions feel like period cramps for me .. but a million times worse. I never got the sensation of the wrapping around the back to the front or my belly getting tight .. just really really painful cramping that comes and goes in a pattern. For me BH contractions and real contractions are nothing alike at all .. the real deal are very intense and should get to the point where you can't talk through them and your toes curl .. or something to that effect. Again, this is how it is for me personally .. I'm sure it differs slightly from woman to woman.
