What are you using to moisturize baby's face?

My LO has baby acne pretty bad, and over the last couple days it's gotten to the point where her skin is so dry, it almost feels scaly. :( I'm nervous to use Johnson & Johnson on her face. I've heard that just plain Vaseline is good. I plan on calling her pedi on Monday, but I'm just not sure what to use. What has worked well for you? Thanks!

  • My pedi recommended Vaseline, so that's what we use.

Do you just put it on for a certain period of time and then wipe it off, or do you leave it on?

  • I have been wondering the exact same thing!

I leave it on, but I'm careful to put a light layer on and wear an old shirt so if it gets on me, it doesn't matter.

  • My pedi recommended Vaseline as well as my LO has a scaly forehead/eyebrows.  She said to put it on three times a day so I'm guessing there's no need to wipe it off.

  • Our pedi recommended using A&D jelly which, for all intents and purposes, is very similar to Vaseline. I just use a little dab and gently rub it in while steering clear of the eyes and wipe away any excess. It works great and does a fabulous job on his butt too ;)

  • I bought California Baby cream as per our nurses recommendation and it's been working great!  Her baby acne is a lot better and her skin is not as dry.  It's pricey but I use so little on her that it will probably last forever.

The downside, the smell, while nice, is pretty strong.  DH hates the smell.

  • My midwife recommended a little bit of breastmilk. I know it sounds crazy, but I've been putting some on a cotton ball and her skin looks great!

A-ha, I was wondering if that might do the trick!  Thanks!

With DD I used Aquaphor, with DS I have used breast milk. I'm not going to lie, it's kind of amazing. Pimple, dry skin, scratch? No problem. Saturday he scratched his face and drew blood. A dab of breastmilk and I can't even see where he did it 24 hours later.
