I have a 2 serious genetic disorders (one that we found out when I gave it to DS) and this pregnancy was unplanned. After this our hope is to turn to adoption.
Is there a single person or agency that I could talk to about what kind of adoption we would qualify for?
I know a lot of internation adoptions frown up disabled parents, and I've heard it's harder to domestically adopt newborns when you have multiple children at home.
Re: Adoption coordinator question?
I am a cancer survivor and had to go through similar questions.
My suggestion is to start making local connections or even non-local connections. You need to just ask the question. Each agency can interpret things slightly differently. Some agencies might prefer not to work with you. But I am sure there are plenty that will work with you.
Also do your research on how your doc will present your disease. Will she state you have a normal life expetancy? If so, make sure you share that with the agency.
I am not an expert... just an adoptive mama x 2 but I would say that if you are interested in IA over DA, there's some program that will work with you. Don't limit yourself. Start asking questions. Also start soul searching to decide what is best for your family.
