D.C. Area Babies

Pre K Program Recommendations Please

My family and I will be moving to the D.C. area soon (close to Alexandria).  My oldest is turning 4 next month.  Can anyone recommend an educational program?  Here in Texas he is enrolled in a Christian Pre K 3 program.  We would like to find something similar. Thanks in advance!

Re: Pre K Program Recommendations Please

  • There are lots. Most in Alexandria have open houses in Jan for lottery spots for next fall. The preschools in the area are very popular, and I don't know of any that generally have mid year spots, but you can always call around. I've found a lot by just searching "preschool" and the area you're interested in.

  • if you are looking for a pre-k program, you may have to look at private schools. i think most of the preschools are just that, preschools. you can also check the Montessori schools - some of them do a pre-k program.

in alexandria, you'll find st. rita's, st. stephen's & st. agnes, grace episcopal, alexandria country day and immanuel lutheran. not sure which of them do pre-k or just k. here is a link to private schools in the Northern VA area: https://www.northernva.com/c21/schools-private.html. note that there is a part of Fairfax County that lists Alexandria in the mailing address, but it's not Alexandria proper.
