Nursery Ideas

Hi everyone. I'm new to the whole message board thing but I have a slight problem. I can't decide how I want to decorate the nursery. We are pretty sure it is a boy but we will find out for certain on the 12th of Dec. I was thinking something with green but I'm not sure. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  • We did vintage Winnie the Pooh for DS.  We wanted something gender neutral so we could re-use the stuff when we had another baby a few years later :)  Oh well! I guess DS gets to keep his Winnie the Pooh stuff and LO #2 gets new stuff!

  • I'm not really into overly themed nurseries, so if we have a boy my plan is to get a patterned bedding set (stripes/dots/etc. most likely in blue, brown, green) and then bring in some subtle woodland animal details...a few pictures, stuffed animals, etc.

  • My MIL will be painting jungle/safari animals and trees around the room and we are going with solid bedding and vibrant colors.

  • I prefer just decorating more with colors and not themes necessarily, but that's juts me. Ds' nursery is lime green, orange, and turquoise with a few owls and birds thrown in here and there. Dd's is going to be lavender and yellow with a more vintagey feel.

  • Another fan of non-themes here.

We picked out fabric for the nursery yesterday and chose to go with a lime, aqua and gray color palette. The furniture is white, and we're going for a modern feel. We plan to have lots of funky art framed in colorful frames on the walls (we are leaving them white).

  • pinterest.com!  Seriously, it's fabulous.

projectnursery.com is supposed to be pretty good too.

  • I have a Classic Pooh set that is mostly creams and browns and some green. The walls are currently a sage green and will have white wainscoting on the bottom half. I might paint a mural on one wall if I can find one I like - trees, woodlandy stuff, etc. Will probably have solid color or patterned curtains and some shelving. Not overly Winnie-the-pooh-ish. I'm very excited to get furniture in there so I can get it ready. I should mention that we don't know what LO is yet but the nursery will be this no matter what we find out on Monday.

  • I am also having a boy but was wanting to do as much gender neutral stuff as possible. The furniture is going to be white, the walls will be painted a light tan color, and the carpet is blue. I was planning on doing all the bedding in yellow.. yellow is my fav color for baby stuff! So its going to be mostly  yellow, white, and tan with touches of blue. I hope it all looks as good as I am envisioning it!

  • I REALLY thought that I was going to have a boy but found out that it's a girl. Surprised me. Because I felt so strongly that it was a boy, we only looked at boy stuff. We had decided to go with a dinosaur theme for the nursery. I wanted it to be more cutesy and my husband found this crib set that I thought was absolutely perfect! You can incorporate tons of bright colors to keep the room vibrant and fun, especially green.

I wanted to do dinosaur because it's different than the usual frog, monkey, zoo, etc. themes. We also considered a pirate theme. =]
