I'm a nosefrida failure...

She's more congested AFTER I use it and I'm pretty sure I sucked snot all the way down my own throat. Am I missing something here, or is DH on to something when he says that NOTHING works on our kids?

Do you have the filter in? If so, it shouldn't be possible to suck snot all the way through. The one trick I've found with the Nosefrida is to rotate the cylinder back and forth while you are sucking...I read that somewhere, not sure if it was in the instructions or not, and it really makes a difference. Good luck!

I will say when I use ours I feel like there is a certain "taste" in the air I suck which grosses me out.  I keep reassuring myself that the filter keeps me from sucking snot!

I just got one and tried it today. It did nothing. Mine came with no instructions so I'm probably doing something wrong. Anyone know where instructions are online?

The instructions are on the back of the package. They pretty much just say suck and turn the tube while sucking...

I've tried it many times without getting anything in my mouth....infact someone here hsuggested using without filter for better results.....the only way I can see you maker worse is if you didn't loosen the snot enough

Aww, I feel bad that I recommended it and it isn't working!  I will say, the older Jude got, the better it seemed to work.  I know she probably hates it, but put a couple drops of saline down the nose and wait about 30 seconds to suck it all up.  It really loosens things up.  I also tried to do it after taking him in the bathroom when it was super steamy for a few minutes.  Hope things get better soon!

Pretty much! Even more gross is the fact that my dad was the human nosefrida. I vividly remember him sucking our snot with his mouth over our nose! Barf, barf, barf!

Not to cause you more worry but are you sure the snot is in her head?  I thought I was a nosefrida failure too last week but it turned out K's congestion was in his chest and the back of his throat so no amount of sucking would work. He's on a nebulizer now and doing great.

I had to take a minute to recover from the overwhelming nausea *urp* that hit me as I read this post.  lol!  (Give me blood, puke, poop, etc, no problem, but snot I cannot handle.)

Two thoughts... 1) maybe a battery powered model would be less gross?  2) Sometimes congestion is caused by swelling inside the nose instead of mucus. there can still be mucus present, running down the throat but that might explain why you're not getting much. Advil (oh but she's too little for that, right?) or tylenol might reduce some of the swelling if that's the case.

schmoodle, i feel your pain. it kind of works on DS, but he hates it so much that the crying it induces produces as much mucus as i've just removed, so it's kind of pointless.
