Not ovulating

I called my doctor yesterday... He has set up a doctors appointment for Nov. 22nd. My husband and I have been TTC since July and a month ago when I went to the doctor he did a blood test that showed I am not ovulating.... I'm so worried that we are going to find out I can't have children. It is all I have ever wanted and since we've been together all we have ever wanted. Is this normal? Can this be fixed? I was on birth control for 3 years because when I was younger I never stopped having my period... and now its just going back to that.. So something is wrong... I'm so scared...

So, depending on what the blood test was (I am assuming it was a progesterone level), I wouldn't be scared just yet. Anyone can have an anovulatory cycle, and if the timing on the testing was off, it could be wrong.

You have only been TTC for 5 months. Not the time to be scared yet. Give it until you've been trying for a year.

In the meantime, get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and start charting if you're not already.

Thank you so much for writing. I'm just starting this and I hope to learn so much and it's amazing how much I've learned already from others posts and blogs.  It's just that I'm beginning to have my period non-stop again... and its not like a real period.. its just discoloration for weeks at a time...

I don't ovulate at all on my own, yet my RE told me I have  an excellent chance of successfully getting pregnant with medical intervention.  There are meds out there that can make your body ovulate so not being able to ovulate does not mean you will never be able to have children.

AE - Don't be too scared yet.  It is a scary journey, but it is one you can make it through, and there are so many options out there to conceive successfully and have that LO you are hoping for.  I have PCOS and do not ovulate on my own, but with the help of an RE and a couple cycles of meds/IUI, we were able to conceive, and now have a baby girl that is turning one next month.  Just don't give up hope, be your own advocate for great medical care, get in touch with your body (Taking Charge of your Fertility is a great book to help you get started with charting), and have faith - it will happen.  If you don't like the answers you get from the Dr., do not be afraid to find another one.  There are some great doctors out there that can help you.  Good luck on your journey!

Thank you, I am so blessed to have found this website. It is teaching me so much. I felt so alone not knowing anything about pregnancy or trying to get pregnant.
