What does your Peri do at appoitments?

Hi Ladies,

What does your peri do for you at your appointments? We went for our 12 week appt today as we had the NT scan and blood work. We are seeing her for a previous hx of PP pre-e with baby #1.

Today she reviewed our results, reviewed medication ( I am on LDA), checked my BP, asked how I was feeling, discussed how things will move along, when we will see her next...that sorta thing.

Does your peri do anything different?

I was so concerned about todays appt to make sure everything was fine with baby I forgot to ask how our blood work was that was done at 8 or 9 weeks. However, they did say that if they did not call us then all was normal. I just like the confirmation but forgot.

Just wanted to see what your peri does.......

Re: What does your Peri do at appoitments?

  • Our appts usually go like this: B/P, then abdominal u/s by the tech. Then the doc comes in and does a transvaginal u/s and then another abdominal one himself. Then we discuss any questions, concerns that I might have and anything he is "worried" about.

  • I've only seen him twice as a consultant.  The first visit, he glanced at my file, and started the u/s (no weighing, no measuring) and asked questions about my obstetric history.  Then he manually checked my cervix and announced he agreed with my OB that I should have a cerclage and dictated a letter to her while I was still half-dressed from the u/s, so I could hear everything.  Then he said he wanted to see me for a level II u/s in 8 weeks, told me he thought this one would go well for us and shook my hand and left.  It took longer to find parking than to see him.

The second time was for my cerclage, and he did an u/s, asked if I had questions and reminded me of the restrictions and that was that.

If I were seeing him full-time and not just on a consulting basis, I expect the things my Ob normally does would be repeated there as well (weight, urine sample, b/p, etc), but since I see her at least every month (I see one of them every two weeks), it's not a huge deal.
