My XH has court ordered supervision for all of his visits...on the rare occasion he uses them. Because of the abuse XH inflicted on me and DD, the OOP that's in place, and because of XH's documented mental health issues the judge ordered the supervised visits and for the supervisors to be a court appointed agency (professional supervisors). All of XH's visits will be professionally supervised until he files for a change and only if the court rules it's in DD's best interest. I don't know your backstory so I don't know the reason your STBXH is in jail, but depending on the offense I would caution against putting a specific timeframe on the supervised visits and instead ask for a professional to evaluate the situation and give the court a recommendation after 6-12 months. Just my two cents.
In my state, the court ordered supervised visits vary from county to county. In my case, there is a house owned by the county where the visits must occur. Ex-H was required to cover the costs involved with the visits (having a court appointed supervisor, the visitation house, etc.) and I was required to stay in a separate room throughout the visits. They could only last 30-60 minutes and were every other week. Luckily, Ex-H got arrested a few weeks before we were due to start the visits.
