Just when I thought I had it all figured out...

Anyone else feel screwed in the maternity clothes department?

I thought I was being wise by getting the next size larger in winter clothes. I only wanted to purchase a few pieces. Now I feel like I'm down to one pair of jeans, 2 long sleeve tee shirts, and one sweatshirt. I'm FREEZING and don't want to buy a winter coat either. I'm constantly washing these pieces and I'm really fearing they aren't going to last me. I'm going to be so aggrivated if I have to buy clothes for just a few weeks. It's like LO dropped/got lower and nothing fits anymore! I can't get away with wearing pajamas ALL the time!

I bought a dress for Thanksgiving and it doesn't even fit anymore!

Grrrr!!!

Re: Just when I thought I had it all figured out...

  • I have 1 pair of mat jeans that I bought a little loose and figured I would be good.  The seams on them are SCREAMING when I squeeze my ass into them.  I am debating buying 1 more pair a size larger...I hate buying something I will only wear for a few more weeks but I know I will appreciate the extra room come Thanksgiving or (God forbid) Christmas dinner.

Other than that, I am perfectly content in frumpy sweaters and sweat pants :)

  • I'm still wearing my short sleeved maternity clothes and have just added my non-maternity cardigans.  I can't button them up, but they still look cute.  I'm also wearing my non-maternity coats and jackets just not done up.  I add a scarf to make it not look so obvious that it won't zip or button.

  • I am lucky that I don't live in cold weather because I am getting down to only a few things that fit, too.  I do a lot of laundry.....

That's a great idea! Unfortunantly most of my summer tops are getting too short :S.

  • I guess I am also lucky I don't live up north. It's 80F here in FL today! I also got tons of maternity clothes on Ebay when I first got pregnant and they all still fit. I would not buy anything at this point.

  • Ya, yesterday I went to put on a pair of maternity jeans that just a few weeks ago were pretty loose....and they were really tight :( So sad. I really don't want to have to buy anything else at this point, so I'm just gonna try and work with what I have. Since we're in CA, it's not too cold here yet, so I may resort to leggings with a tunic or loose dress, with a sweater and Uggs or something--at least for Thanksgiving- gonna need the extra room! :)

  • I'm DYING to buy a maternity coat because I can't zip any of my jackets up anymore....but I can't bring myself to spend so much money on a coat that I'll only need for about a month!!!

So....I've resorted to stealing my hubby's hoodies and layering it up under my regular winter jacket...that way I can at least zip one of the coats LOL
If only I lived in a warmer state...

I told DH that his daughter was cold and is going to be stealing his jackets from now on. Stick out tongue

  • I've resorted to stealing DH's clothes and coat. Sure, they're too big, but I refuse to buy more clothes for a couple of weeks (I'm mainly hanging out at home though). When I have to go out in public, I layer a cardigan and scarf over my maternity tops so you can't tell too much that they're a bit too short and tight.

I stocked up on mat. cami's so I have been layering a cami under a too short shirt and it looks fine for me

  • Now keep in mind ya'll you may be wearing maternity clothes for a couple weeks after the baby comes too...It's just now started getting cool out here in Texas but luckily I can make due with an unzipped hoodie and a long sleeved shirts. I also wear my non maternity cardigans with everything since they don't necessarily have to be closed. My biggest issue now is even with a maternity cami my maternity shirts are too short. I remember buying my first one thinking "geez this thing is like a dress on me" and now I'm constantly tugging on it! Can't wait to squeeze back into my American Eagle clothes *sob* I had just bought new jeans/tops when I got my BFP and now they hang in my closet taunting me.

*had to see how much bigger maternity pants were so I laid a pair of my original pants over them. Don't do it. It wasn't pretty. It was like a before and after shot from a diet pill commercial lmao!

This exactly! I'm pretty much living in cardigans and scarves right now! I refuse to buy a maternity jacket! Living in 2 pairs of jeans and doing laundry frequently to make this work for the last remaining weeks.

  • I am glad to hear I'm not the only one running out of options, 2 of my 4 maternity jeans no longer fit and some of the shirts are getting too short.  I wear hospital scrubs a few days a week for work so that has saved me a lot in the clothing dept.  I did get a winter coat for $15 at walmart this fall and it is working out great.  I have had to start stealing DH's t-shirts and sweatshirts because mine are all too short.  I am still wearing my pre pregnancy cardigans and just not buttoning them which is working out ok as well.  A lot of my shoes are getting too tight, I am hoping it is just from swelling and I can go back to my regular shoes after delivery.
  • I hardly ever leave the house b/c of this lol  When at home I lounge around in maternity underwear and t-shirts that aren't even long enough to cover my bump.  I have a few pair of pants but hardly any tops.  I just wear my summer ones with a cardigan or zip up hoodie, they don't close but w/e I'm not buying anything else.  I can't wait for this LO to come and to lose some of this weight...I'm burning my maternity clothes.
