Its been a while since I've posted.. have had my hands full with my 2 little ones...
My 3 month old son Daniel was just in the hospital all week with RSV.. bronchioliitis and pneumonia... was awful.. We just got home. He's still hacking/coughing .. and will be for some time. My daughter Bernadette had it too.. and still has the cough.. she just had a really bad cold.. After staying at the hospital all week.. I now am sick.. My hubby had it first two wks ago.. and is still coughing.
I share this with all of you.. who have infants.. do your best this winter to keep anyone with a cold away from them!!! When my hubby first had the cold, I slept in a different room with the baby for 4 nights.. thought we were safe.. but then my daughter got it.. but RSV is transmitted by TOUCH... and stays alive on inanimate objects.. so it was impossible to prevent the baby from getting it.. only prevention is washing your hands constantly...
We had to cancel his christening (which was scheduled for Sunday.).. a party at a restuarant for 65 people... and we'll figure it all out when things calm down. We will all be okay.. was a crazy and scary experience seeing him hooked up to IV, monitors.. etc.. . He broke capillaries in his face because of coughing so hard...he is still getting nebulizer treatments every 4 hours (at hospital it was every 3 hours)...but just keep your babies safe and listen to your doctors advice of "wash your hands"!!!!!
Re: What a week!!!
Sorry you had to go through all that, and glad Daniel is feeling better now!
I remember last winter was a pain for us. J. was sick for a long time and getting worse and worse, and then it all ended with pneumonia. I would lock up myself with baby E. in a separate room for days (the nanny was taking care of J.). E. ended up getting cold at 7 weeks but nothing really serious.
It's crazy how easily a baby can get RSV. We went through a mild case of it last winter. No where close to the situation you're in... but we went to the pedi thinking he just had a moderate cold. Ended up with him on an asthma inhaler for several weeks.
I'm sure everyone will be happy and healthy again soon!
I am so sorry you had such rough time. I am lad the things are much better now and glad to see you here again.
Thanks! Still can't believe it happened. crazy crazy week.
good to be "back".. hard to find time for the bump... and will be even harder.. I'm back to work Monday after Thanksgiving.. boo.
