Adoption

Addition to FAQ section? (Adoption book recs for babies/children/adoptive parents)

I had some old posts saved that I was following about people's recommendations for Adoption books to read to babies/kids but I can't find it anymore in my posts I'm watching so I thought this might be a good topic to have in the FAQ page.  I want to get DD a book or two for Christmas about adoption (kids books, not how to adopt books).   Can someone lead me to an old post or can you repost your favorites?  TIA

  • I think it would be great to have a list like this readily available!  I love "Tell Me Again about the Night I Was Born" by Jamie Lee Curtis.  It has humor to get you through the tough parts!  ( and hilarious pictures!).  There is a book  called Alison that I forget the author of right now (and A is sleeping so no way am I going in her room to get it!), but it deals well with the anger/resentment a child can feel (difficult discussions, but it may help to know it is normal to feel this way sometimes), and it's not TOO heavy...unfortunately both of these talk about international (or at least between states) adoption, as far as the excitement of the plane ride, visiting another country, etc.  This wasn't our experience because we adopted in our own state, so I'm still looking for some good ones like that : )
