Storing items after baby

I'm feeling stressed about how i'm going to store all these big baby items once he's outgrown them.  We don't have much space and I'm afraid everything will get dirty stored in my garage.

Are you saving boxes?

Will you break things down and put them back in the boxes?

What are your storage plans?

Re: Storing items after baby

  • I haven't even thought that far ahead...

We don't have much in the way of storage space either unless we shove more stuff in the guest room closet.

I do know a lot of people who are having babies in about six months so maybe I can give some of it away.

  • Never really thought of it yet! I think I will try to store everything in huge rubbermaid bins and  stack them in the garage/attic. Luckily mostly everything should break down to a decent size to fit in a big bin. By the time LO out-grows his crib we will probably plan to have our next one :)

  • I don't think I would even be thinking about it, but I have all these big empty boxes in my garage and I don't know if I should be saving them or just tossing them.

  • We have a one-car garage and have given up on ever parking in it. :) We also consciously avoided buying a lot of big stuff, despite the insistence that we "needed" this or that. So most large things are things we'll use for quite a while and either trash, give away or sell because they'll need replacing anyway. The stroller is probably the biggest thing we'd want to store, and we'll know by the time we're not using it anymore whether we're having another kid soon or not and need to either store it or get rid of it.
  • Hmm I've been throwing all our boxes away.... I will probably just store everything in our upstairs office (which we never use) still fully put together.

  • we're putting stuff in the attic. all boxes have been destroyed if we bought stuff new, but most of the stuff we have is used.

  • WIth DD I put the cloth parts of the swing, bouncer, car seat...) in space saver bags to protect them and stored everything else in the garage and in DD's room.  The good thing about a bed skirt on the crib is that I could hand things under the crib.

  • We did not save any boxes from all the stuff from our DS.  We broke everything down and put them  in large garbage bags up in the attic above our garage.  For the smaller things like toys and blankets we got a large tote and put it all in there.

  • We broke things down as much as we could & put it all in Rubbermaids in the garage.  Clothes are in either Rubbermaids or diaper boxes in the garage.  We got most of our stuff second hand so we didn't have the boxes.  That would have been nice for things like the swing & carseat but we made due just fine.
