High-Risk Pregnancy

I'm not sure this is the right place to post

but, I'm new at this again and hoping for some positive stories.  I have been having beta's every 48 hrs since last friday (I was spotting when wiping after urinating).  They continue to rise, but aren't doubling.  (Fri =985, Sun=1433, Tues=1844, Thurs=2553).  I have been told this will likely result in a miscarriage.  They did an US yesterday and didn't see ANYTHING.  Nothing in my tubes or uterus.  I still could be at risk for a tubal, but the doctor said more than likely, it will be a miscarriage.  Has this happened to anyone?  What ended up happening?  I am so hoping I am just early and it is slow growing and everything will be okay, but also trying to prepare myself for the worst.  Thanks for your thoughts.

  • A good scanner with a good tech running it should be able to see SOMETHING (fetal pole, GC, etc) around 2000 hcg. I'd wait a couple days or more, and try again. I agree that the numbers sound suspicious for something, although sometimes you can just have a slow grower in there...

  • I had an ectopic that took a while to show up.  I know there are people who have slow doubling and everything ends up find (sometimes that happens with a vanishing twin).  Personally, when my numbers haven't doubled, it has never ended well.  Hang in there.  Good luck.  They should be able to see something in the next day or two.  If you have any pain or bleeding call your doctor or go to the ER.

  • In my circumstance, it was ectopic (cervical), and took weeks to show up in an u/s.  My numbers weren't rising that steadily though - they were very erratic and low.  We never thought it was anything but abnormal, but it took a very long time to diagnose.

  • You could very well have a "slow" glower, but my experience-

I had a miscarriage back In January, early on, and the numbers barely doubled in the beginning and then dropped dramatically. It was very difficult, but just remember, miscarriages are very common and they are usually followed up with a successful and healthy pregnancy. I'm 7 months along now !
