? for previa moms

so i was wondering if your tech said anything to you indicating your condition at your scan.

my tech and the dr in the room (who i've never seen) kept whispering and i heard them saying something about the blood vessels being "right there."

then she did a transvaginal and told me she was concerned that there were blood vessels crossing the cervix, but saw clearly that that was not the case.

so i wonder if maybe it's the placenta that was super close to the cervix, where the dr was saying that they were "right there at the edge??"

she told me that the baby looked healthy and that the dr would "go over everything" with me at my next appt.

what is there to go over if everything is fine?

i know im probably being paranoid, but she sort of made me feel that although it isn't anything immediately threatening, there is something amiss.

also, there is blood in the uterus, but i am not bleeding.  it was also there at my dating u/s at 6 weeks.

bottom line is that i know i won't know anything definite until my appt.  i just didn't know if it's something the tech would tell me or not.  i know that generally, they aren't allowed to say much.

thx!

Re: ? for previa moms

  • If you have previa there is a really good chance that it will move.  I had it at 20 weeks and by 24 I was in the clear.  As for the blood I would not worry unless your doc is.  I know a few people that had it and it resolved on its own eventually.

  • To answer your question, no the tech didn't say anything, I don't think they are allowed to.  Of course I knew something was wrong because I went to L&D at 31 weeks because I was bleeding heavily.  It was then when they found my partial previa, mine didn't move enough so I had to have a c/s.  But you are still early and it sounds like your placenta will move out of the way.

  • Correct. The tech will not say anything to you. What I'm surprised about is they didn't bring a doctor in to go over everything then.

I had Partial PPrevia at 18 weeks, still partial at 30 weeks and complete at 34 weeks. I had to have a C-section at 36 weeks.

I never bled, so it was weird for me to think anything was wrong.

     Good luck!
