White Blood count came back a bit high

Hi....I had to go to labor and delivery yesterday for a more extensive stress test on the baby....they did a complete blood count on me and the results for my white blood cells came a back a bit elevated.  Has anyone else had this happen...could this be due to pregnancy???  Somthings I read say that pregnancy can elevate the wbc but I'm needing some reassurance.

 Thank you!!

  • They found some white blood cells in my urine the other day, and thought it was a potential UTI/Bladder infection.  It was nothing.

  • I had a slightly elevated WBC a few months back. My doctor didn't even mention it, so he obviously wasn't too concerned. I only saw it because I needed to get a copy of my medical records. I spoke with my MIL who is a nurse and she said that it can happen during times of stress or if you are fighting off a cold. The week it was elevated, I had several exams and projects due for my grad program and I called out sick one day from my job because I felt like I was coming down with something. I never even got sick, but my understanding is that WBs can be elevated if your fighting something mild (like a cold).
  • Yep, completely normal for the white count to be slightly elevated in a pregnant woman.
