Hi, all.
I'm hoping that someone can help me. DH & I sent our fingerprints off to the FBI back at the end of September/early October. We're STILL waiting. We got ours back from the state Bureau of Investigations within a week. I read that it can take up to 8 weeks, which would be next week. Is this realistic? I'm really starting to get antsy and I can't find anywhere on the FBI website where I can check on the status. :-(
Re: Question re: fingerprints?
I can do that?
Heck yeah! I work for a Member of Congress. We do that stuff all the time.
Call either your Senator or Representative - if you don't know who they are go to www.house.gov or www.senate.gov and look them up. They will have a DC office and offices in your state. You want the state office closest to you. Call them, tell them that you sent fingerprints to the FBI and ask them to check on the status for you. They'll likely have you sign a release form with your SS# that says you are allowing your Rep/Senator to contact the FBI on your behalf. Usually you can fax that back to them. Then, they send your information and release to their FBI contacts and request a status update. Should not take long, it just depends on the workload at the FBI. PM me if you have any problems.
Thank you for this number! I tried to be patient through last week, but I couldn't wait any longer. I had to know! She said it is still processing and to call later this week into early next week and it should be completed. So glad to finally have an answer and hopefully be submitting our home study paperwork SOON!
