High-Risk Pregnancy

Amniotic Sheet/Fold/Shelf

I guess they are reffered to either of the above but not to be confused with an amniotic band. I have done alot of research. Basically at my a/s scan on tuesday the Dr told me my uterus is showing an amniotic sheet.  It is no where near baby and is there is nothing that can be done for it and that it is not something that needs to be evaulated or followed via ultrasound.  I wasnt prepared for this at the time but do have a list of questions that I want to inquire about at my next appointment.  He said it most likely was caused form the scar tissue from my last c-section.  Does any one have any experience with this?  I am fearful that it could at some point harm the baby. I do read that it can cause PPROM or abruption.  TIA!

Re: Amniotic Sheet/Fold/Shelf

  • I realize this is really old so not sure if you will read this. I had one in my most recent pregnancy, they called it a uterine "curtain". The Dr said it's most likely scar tissue from the d&c (for pp hemorrhage) I had after DD was born. I don't want my siggy to scare you; they do not believe my loss had anything to do w/ this tissue- in fact they said it was not near the baby, wouldn't interfere w/ growth & that it shouldn't affect anything during the delivery.
