WWYD: Never return a plate empty...

If someone brings a 'treat' to your house and the plate/ dish stays...do you refill it with something yummy when you return it?

MH thinks I'm batty :o) (and currently baking to return the dish FULL

  • Nope, I return a clean empty plate. It's a nice gesture though!

  • I do this sometimes, I think it is a nice gesture. Unfortunately life gets in the way half of the time and it just goes back clean not full! But I sometimes try to bake something to include when returning - you aren't the only crazy one LOL!
  • Wow, I've never thought of returning the dish with something else in it.  However, the times that we've received food were times when I was recovering from surgery or when I was on bedrest.  I couldn't have cooked them something in return even if I wanted to.  But true to my Southern roots, I do send a thank you note! ;-)

  • I don't usually go out of my way to return a plate full. However, if I already have plans to bake I usually fill up their plate when I return it.
  • I bet people leave plates at your house a lot.  LOL!  I think my mom and step mom should start instituting this policy!
  • I was told this as well.  I do it all the time.

  • I've never heard of it before either but it sounds like a great idea.

I think I'll just start leaving random plates at people's houses Wink.

  • If I don't have any baked goods to return with the plate, I try to have a few nice chocolates or something (like Lindor truffle balls).

That way that plate isn't empty, but I don't have to bake if I don't have  the time.

  • I have never heard of returning a plate full. I will never again return an empty plate. What a nice idea. Thank you!
