Weight loss!?

Who still has not lost all of their pregnancy weight? My daughter is a month old and I still have 10 lbs that WILL NOT budge! I am starting to get frustrated because the scale will not move even though I am back to exercising and eating more healthy! Who else is with me!?

  • I gained 28 and have lost about 23. I think its unrealistic to think we can lose it all so soon. My doctor said that at 6-8 weeks, you should weigh approx. what you weighed at 20 weeks pregnant, as a general rule. I am barely over 2 wks pp from a cs, and the last thing on my mind is losing weight. I'm not even thinking about dieting or working out until January.

  • I agree with PP that it's unrealistic to expect to have lost all of your pregnancy weight by now.  That having been said, are you breastfeeding?  Your body may need to hang onto some of that extra weight to sustain breastfeeding.  Once you stop, the rest of the weight will likely come off.

This.  I am about 9lbs away from pre pg weight, and I honestly feel pretty good about that.  I hope to be back to my reg weight within the next two months. I work out, but dont diet since I am BFing...I just eat normally.

  •  I'm 5 weeks pp and have about 8 lbs to lose in order to be back to pre-pregnancy weight. I actually feel like that is great progress, since it means I've lost 22 pounds. I'm BFing and know that helped the first 20 come off, but that I may hold onto a little extra weight due to BFing. Also, I haven't been cleared for full on exercise yet so LO and I have been doing walks most days.

I am not stressing about the weight....it took 9 months to put the weight on; I can't expect it all to come off in less than 2 months, especially with a newborn to take care of. I'm not putting any pressure on myself to really diet or have a strict exercise plan until January. Give your body a break...1 month is not that long!

I don't own one either so I will have to see how much I weigh at my 6 week appt on Tuesday.

But I have been going by how my clothes fit, and I find it weird that they seem to be getting tighter again?  For example for the first 3-4 weeks my pre-preg jeans fit, but in the past 2 weeks they are getting tighter again, despite the fact that I started working out 2 weeks ago?

I don't own a scale either so I won't know how much I've lost until I go to my 6 week appointment on Monday.  I gained about 38 lbs and I've lost quite a bit (I think), but my regular pants don't fit.  I'm still wearing mostly yoga pants, and maternity jeans if I have to leave the house.  I think being 10 lbs away at 1 month PP is pretty good, fwiw...

Me neither! However I did weigh myself at my moms and I was down 30lbs but I still have 15lbs to go. I would like to have at least a bit more off by January since we're going to the Dominican otherwise I wouldn't really care. OP good job exercising, I haven't even thought of exercising when do you find the time?

I had a csection and I noticed around 5-6 weeks I got really puffy in my stomach and it was almost as painful as when I first came home. It went away in less than a week though.

I don't own one either. But, at my 6 week pp doc appt. I still had 15lbs. to loose. I gained a lot (53 lbs.) during pregnancy so I'm not surprised that I still have some to go. I figure it took 9 months to gain it all so it will take some time to loose it.

  • I'm in the exact same boat as the OP. I lost all but the last 10 lbs within the first 2 weeks but have been stuck with this ever since! So frustrating, but I am bfing so I'm sure that's it.  I went out to goodwill and bought a nice pair of jeans that fit me well. They were $5 and are 1 size bigger than my usual, but it's worth it to finally get out of those yoga pants.  I hope to get back into my jeans once I start exercising again...
  • i gained 34 pounds lost 20 with the first 5 days, 5 more by 2 weeks and i have no clue what i am at now as we dont own a scale. id say i still have 5 or so to go

  • I don't own a scale either.  I had my 6 week pp appt yesterday and I'm 3lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight and 7lbs from where I want to be.  I'm more bothered by the lose skin that looks like a deflated balloon, other than that I feel pretty good!

  • I have not stepped on the scale since my appt to get my staples taken out from the csection. It has been 6 days since I delieverd DD2 and it only showed I had lost 4 pounds. Indifferent DD1 was 6 pounds 8 oz and thats not even considering the placenta water weight, blood loss, etc. That being said, I am going off of the way my clothes are fitting not the scale. Alot of my pre pregnancy clothes are a little too tight so I am almost there but not quite. I am 4 wks pp.

I am not too worried about it at the moment. It took 9-10 months to inflate to pregnancy size so I think only allowing your body a month to go back to pre-pregnancy weight is unrealistic. It took me a little while to shrink back to pre-pregnancy weight with DD1 so I am expecting the same this time around. I would try not to worry about it too much. One thing I have learned from weight loss is the more you stress about it, the harder it is to lose weight. My body will actually hold onto fat if I stress out.
