Re: Daily Bed Rest Check-In (Thurs) 11/17/11
1. Is there one particular snack or food that you have every day?
Chobani yogurt...great source of protein but doesn't taste like it!
2. What is the most heartfelt gesture you've received while on bed rest?
My family treated us to a week's worth of meals cooked by a personal chef and a cleaning service.
3. If returning to work, how much time are you anticipating taking for your maternity leave, bedrest not included? If SAHM, how long til you anticipate being back to your normal routine/responsibilities after LO is born? (I hope this question makes sense for everyone!)
I'd anticipated 6-weeks unpaid maternity leave, but actually ended up getting laid off (due to a merger, not the pg). I'd still like to keep it short if possible, especially with the extra months of not working that we didn't exactly count on. Maybe a 6-week recovery is unrealistic? May be able to go back part - time for a while if things work out well...DH works from home so he will have the Mr. Mom responsibilities as soon as I get cleared to work.
4. Updates/Vents
So the lizard that got in my house - that DH swore he would get outside for me - made a jump from the tree to my couch this morning. I'm suprised none of you heard me scream? I was SO not happy about this - I try not to ask for too much but come on, just move the darn tree outside if you know there's a lizard on it that is tormenting your bed-resting wife! On a bright note, it looks like I'm really having my baby shower on Saturday! We have a 2-hr time limit and everyone is coming here so it should be relatively "easy" on me. It will be intimate - maybe 12 people total - but I can't wait to see my close friends and be around people and socialize.
Have a great Thursday!
Lisa
GOOD LUCK Doingitright!! You are in my thoughts!!
1. Is there one particular snack or food that you have every day?
I eat cereal just about every day - if not for breakfast, then usually as a snack. Currently loving frosted mini wheats straight out of the box!
2. What is the most heartfelt gesture you've received while on bed rest?
My friend back home sent my cookies from my favorite bakery. They arrived smashed to bits, but they were the best crumbs I've ever eaten! Also, my manicurist friend has come by on Sundays to paint my nails. It's the little things that make you feel the best!
3. If returning to work, how much time are you anticipating taking for your maternity leave, bedrest not included? If SAHM, how long til you anticipate being back to your normal routine/responsibilities after LO is born? (I hope this question makes sense for everyone!)
I'm planning to take the full 12 weeks allowed by FMLA - 6 paid of ST disability, probably 2 of paid vacation, and 4 unpaid. I feel very fortunate right now that I can work from home while on bed rest.
4. Updates/Vents
V-DAY - 24 weeks today! 4 weeks of bed rest so far, and isn't it funny that I hope there are many MANY more to go??!!
Wow! That's amazing! People can really surprise you sometimes.
1. Is there one particular snack or food that you have every day?
- ginger ale
2. What is the most heartfelt gesture you've received while on bed rest?
- A cake w/ some "calm" tea
3. If returning to work, how much time are you anticipating taking for your maternity leave, bedrest not included? If SAHM, how long til you anticipate being back to your normal routine/responsibilities after LO is born? (I hope this question makes sense for everyone!)
- I'm a SAHM and I have no idea
4. Updates/Vents
- My weekly peri appt is today, we'll see if I'm cleared for a little more activity. I breaking out a few hours before my appt, my DD is having Thanksgiving lunch at preschool & missing her little "events" is killing me, so I'm going.
Cerclage placed @ 21w6d due to CI (IC)
1. Is there one particular snack or food that you have every day?
Chocolate chip cookies! Not a pregnancy thing - I love them so much I almost had them as an extra at my wedding in addition to wedding cake!
2. What is the most heartfelt gesture you've received while on bed rest?
I am very blessed and can't list just one. DH and I live about 6 hours away from both our families, so on the night I was airlifted to the hospital, our friend (and DH's boss) drove him here at 2 in the morning so he wouldn't have to be alone. My parents have driven here 3 weekends in a row to see me, and bring outside food for at least 2 meals a day when they are here. My sister took a week off from school the first week I was hospitalized to stay here, keep me company, and help DH around the house. I have gotten flowers and a care package from my two aunts, and, even more surprisingly, flowers from my primary OB/GYN back in our small town. DH, in addition to singlehandedly holding down the fort, makes homemake brownies and cookies for me
. But, the one thing that has probably made the hugest difference came from my boss, who is also a longtime family friend and kind of like a favorite uncle. He called me about 7 hours after I was airlifted here because he was so worried, and immediately reassured me that everything would be fine with my job and I would still be getting my salary (I am the primary breadwinner). The peace of mind that has given me has meant so much.
3. If returning to work, how much time are you anticipating taking for your maternity leave, bedrest not included? If SAHM, how long til you anticipate being back to your normal routine/responsibilities after LO is born? (I hope this question makes sense for everyone!)
Even before bedrest, I was only planning to take 6 weeks because I have a pretty demanding job and also could not go without pay. Now that I have unexpectedly been out for 3 weeks, and will be for at least 3 more, I will probably do some work from home as soon as I am mentally able, and return at least part-time as soon as I am medically cleared.
4. Updates/Vents
I swear that the first MFM who treated me here "fired" me when it turned out I didn't have GD, because I have had a new one this week. LOL. However, she (the new MFM) seems pretty certain that I will be released at 34 weeks no matter what, which means I will be home for Thanksgiving!
1. Is there one particular snack or food that you have every day? Hot chocolate. It's about the only sweet DH is letting in the house.
2. What is the most heartfelt gesture you've received while on bed rest? My parents have been awesome. They've taken DD for the day a couple of times. I feel so bad that because I can't go anywhere she doesn't really go anywhere. My mom has kept me well supplied with yummy homemade soup. And they brought one of their recliners over, so I have something comfy to lounge in other then the bed.
3. If returning to work, how much time are you anticipating taking for your maternity leave, bedrest not included? If SAHM, how long til you anticipate being back to your normal routine/responsibilities after LO is born? (I hope this question makes sense for everyone!) Well, before being put on bedrest I was only planning on six weeks. I just finished the only paid leave I'm going to get. I'm currently on unpaid leave from work, but since we're a fairly small company they don't require any kind of paperwork detailing the leave and that makes me a little uncomfortable. If I apply for FMLA now it will run out the week after my due date, so not sure what is going to happen.
4. Updates/Vents: I have discovered there is such a thing as too much togetherness. DH and I have been together pretty much all day every day since I was put on bedrest four weeks ago. He's about to drive me insane! Obviously I wouldn't trade it for spending my days by myself in the hospital like some of you ladies have to endure, but I'd like just a little time to myself.
Amelia is going to be a big sister!
1. Is there one particular snack or food that you have every day? If lemonade were available through hospital food service, I would have it every day. Since it isn't everyone that visits me brings in lemonade for me.
2. What is the most heartfelt gesture you've received while on bed rest? I have had so many great visitors and everyone has shared books, snacks, and well wishes. My mom has been fantastic, staying with me every second since being hospitalized.
3. If returning to work, how much time are you anticipating taking for your maternity leave, bedrest not included? If SAHM, how long til you anticipate being back to your normal routine/responsibilities after LO is born? (I hope this question makes sense for everyone!) I am trying to work from home/hospital as much as possible, and will have to return to work as soon as cleared. I have a very demanding job, but my time will be somewhat flexible.
4. Updates/Vents So many friends stopping by really helps the day pass more quickly. Everyone keeps asking how long I will stay and I really hate not having an answer. Everything is just day by day at this point. Ultrasound tomorrow, so hoping for stable/good report.
1. Is there one particular snack or food that you have every day?
Nothing particularily. I do like milk though when my stomach can tolerate it!
2. What is the most heartfelt gesture you've received while on bed rest?
Visits from friends.
3. If returning to work, how much time are you anticipating taking for your maternity leave, bedrest not included? If SAHM, how long til you anticipate being back to your normal routine/responsibilities after LO is born? (I hope this question makes sense for everyone!)
Glad I live in Canada and get a full year off! Can't wait to get back to work though as well.
4. Updates/Vents
Good appointment with the doctor today! Everything looked great!
