Ok so I see this name everywhere on this board and I have no idea how to pronounce it ! I've been assuming it is pronounced with a soft G, but that pronunciation just makes me think of aunt jemima maple syrup. Am I missing something here ?
I don't get why so many people like that name if it's pronounced like that.
Re: Help with Gemma !
Think precious gem, Gem-mah.
Gem (like a precious stone)- mah. This is my top girl's name!!
The syrup is pronounced Jeh-MIME-ah. Not remotely close to GEM-mah IMO.

What? Addicted to pancakes? Um, okay. This name has been a popular name for a long time in the UK. It isn't a new name.
I'm pretty biased, so thank you for being one of the voices of reason here! It's an Italian name that's been around for a while. Jemima is also a pretty common name in the UK if I'm not mistaken.
