Trouble TTC

TTC for over a year with no success, no fertility issues

I just turned 27 so I'm still relatively young, all my fertility tests as well as my husband's tests have come back with very positive results. Nothing appears to be wrong; however, we have tried 13 times with no success. I really wanted to get pregnant without fertility meds, but I decided to add in Femara on days 3-7 for attempt 13. No success. Now I'm on attempt 14. I took Femara Days 3-7 and added in the Ovidrel trigger shot on Day 12. I am at Day 19, so just waiting to find out if it worked this time.
First, has anyone had success with Femara and Ovidrel?
Secondly, is there anyone else out there with no fertility issues that can't get pregnant?

Re: TTC for over a year with no success, no fertility issues

  • Our tests came back fine and our fertility issue is "unexplained infertility."  MH and I have been trying since March 2010 and have yet to be successful.

I'm currently in the 2WW of my 3rd cycle with Clomid and Ovidrel

  • First off, if you want success stories either go over to the PG after IF board or wait all day and look at our *Graduates* post as see if their ticker has what worked for them.

Secondly, we have tons of women on here that have "unexplained" infertility.  Which is what you are dealing with.  So I'm sure you'll find many here that will relate to you.  The vast majority of us take a trigger shot on treatment cycles.

And finally, welcome to the board.  While I hope your stay is short, realize that it might be a longer struggle than you imagined.  There are several things that we deal with on the road of infertility.  Breaks from treatment due to cysts, financial, or emotional needs.  Ect.  Example:  I'm on cycle 35.

  • Thanks for sharing your story.  It is kind of crazy when nothing seems to be wrong but it takes so long to get pregnant.  I never took Clomid, but I'd be curious to know if you have success.  I read that a lot of women who were unsuccessful on Clomid switched to Femara.

    Good luck!!

  • I have an unexplained diagnosis as well, there are lots of ladies here that are considered the same.  This is cycle #18 for us.  We have done 3 medicated IUI cycles and are currently doing IVF.

I can't speak about the Femara, but good luck!

  • I have a diagnosis, but I just wanted to share what my OB/GYN said.

She said that she sees couples often who have been trying over a year.  Many times all the tests come back normal and they get pregnant within 6 months. Taking up to 18 cycles (or more!) is actually still very normal.

Here's hoping that applies to you and you get your BFP soon!
