How much bleeding after D&C

My D&C was Friday morning.  I had hardly any bleeding at all, then last night it started like a period and continues.  I thought last year all I had was spotting. Can anyone share how much and for how long they had bleeding.  Thanks!

First, let me say I'm so sorry for your losses. I hate that anyone has to be "in this club that no one wants to be in" as a fellow nestie put it. I had my first D&E this past Monday and for the first two days cramping and spotting were very light. Then on Wednesday both started to much  more intense. Yesterday the bleeding was the worse and it scared me (TMI but I took a shower and it was falling out of me like grape jelly). So I called the Doctor on call and she suggested I go to the emergency room. Well, after blood tests and a very uncomfortable intravaginal ultrasound they deemed that no matter was left inside and that it was most likely just my uterus expelling what was left of scraping the uteran walls. Last night the bleeding slowed way down and now it's just spotting. If your heavy bleeding lasts more than a couple of days or you have a fever definitely call the doctor - you might want to call anyway just to make yourself feel better. I had very little bleeding the first 3 days and then more like a period flow for a day that then tapered back off to spotting. The spotting lingered for 14 days. By the end of that time it was very little but there still was some everyday.

I was warned by the doctor and the nurse that this is not uncommon following a d&c.

 I hope it slows down soon. I know I was annoyed with how long I bled!!

I had a D&C on Friday as well. It's my second one in the past six months so I can compare both: the bleeding was heavier the 1st day on both D&C's and then light spotting for a few days. It comes out more when I have a BM (sorry for TMI)?

My post-op care guide does state that it is normal to start bleeding more after a few days. You uterus will "shrink" back to normal size and expel whatever is left. The warning signs will be soaking a pad in 1 - 2 hours. That's not OK and you should call your Dr. immediately.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I had my D and C a little over a month ago.  I had very little bleeding for about 4 days.  Then I had about a day or so of heavy period like bleeding.   Then it went back to spotting for about 5 more days.  So it was like a total of 2 weeks that I had bleedng.  I was so happy when it finally stopped.  I kinda felt normal again.  Now I am just waiting on AF.

Thanks ladies for all your shared experiences and for your support.  I'm sorry for all of our losses, I wish none of us had to be here.   It sounds like what I'm experiencing is pretty normal and nothing to be alarmed by.  If things get worse then I will definately get a hold of my Dr.  Thanks again.
