XB wants DS this weekend?

My ex-boyfriend/the father asked if he could have DS this weekend/ I'm not sure for 2 reasons, 1) He's a newborn  2) I don't know if he has proper crib bedding, etc.

I know I'm being a little melodramatic about this, but I'm just not certain I want him going over. But on the OTHER hand, I can catch up on some sleep while DS is with him. WWYD?

  • You would be OK with your 5 day old being away from you a whole weekend? I think its a little overboard. An infant shouldnt be away from his primary caregiver that long.. ESPECIALLY at that age..

You should be introducing your EX to shorter more frequent visits during this time for a few months. Maybe 3 days a week for 2 hours.

Do you have a lawyer? Have you filed for child support?

  • No.  Absolutely no.

Your baby is FIVE DAYS OLD.  Babies five months old aren't often away from their primary care givers for that long.

  • Lack of sleep comes with the job of being a mom (especially a new one), there's nothing appropriate about sending your 6 day old away for the weekend.

  • NO, no and no. Awful idea. Terrible. Get thee self a lawyer and file for custody and DO NOT send your child to his fathers for the weekend at just 5 days old. That's crazy talk.

  • I am a little shocked that you are contemplating this question at all...I am thinking you might be having the baby blues(dramatic loss of pregnancy hormones causing you to feel off), but please do not let this get in the way of  caring for your newborn.  Please ask help from your family and friends to take care of cleaning your home/room, making you dinner and stuff so all you have to do is care for your newborn and sleep when your newborn sleeps.

My son is now 14 months and only once he stayed overnight for only 1 night somewhere else and that was at Grandma's when he was 10 months old.  This was so I can focus on moving into a new place when  we sold our house since he was walking at the time and getting into everything and I wanted to keep my son safe from hazards.
