Dyeing BG Elemental

Hi,

Anyone know if I can safely dye a BG Elemental?  Hope so!  I'm an idiot and ordered the 'Bubble' color (thought it was gray, but it's light purple).  My DH doesn't want me to use it on our DS.

You can try, but its obviously going to dye the inside of it too.

Not to be snarky, but I don't really see the issue. No one is going to see the diaper if your kid is wearing clothes. My DS wears DD's old pink diapers all the time. I don't think he is going to grow up with gender issues because of it. Its just a color.

ETA: If you are that worried about it, then I would probably just sell it and get something else.

I'm an idiot too, I did the same thing! I don't see a problem with him wearing it tho, my DS wears his all the time. If your DH doesn't want him to wear it out of the house then just have him wear it inside!

I don't see dying it a success. Your H is being silly, plain and simple. Do what PP suggested- sell it and get something else.

Is it really that big of a deal? My baby girl is in blues and greens all the time... if I have a boy as a second, he'll be in purples (even light purples) and maybe even pinks on occasion even though I've tried to keep my stash somewhat "gender neutral" - no one sees the diaper, and after all, it's just getting sh*t in anyway!

Like someone else said, if it really bothers you that much, sell it.

I made this mistake with bubble too (I don't know what I'm having yet, obviously).  I don't care, I'll still use it if my baby is a boy.  No one is going to see it!  Like PPs said, either sell it, or just use it at home/at night.

I agree with everyone, butI feel your pain.  DH is the same way on everything, but he did surprise me with allowing lavender diapers for DSs.  He says its covered.  On other things DH is weird about I try to placate him with "I'll put it at the bottom of the pile."   If he won't cave- You can probably resell it for minimal loss.  I'd do that instead of dying it.  That would scare me. GL!

Thanks for your input.  I completely agree that it's not a big deal and I think I'll just keep it and put DS in it while DH is at work.  With my luck anyway I'd try dyeing it and probably ruin my whole stash in a wash later!

I actually think the biggest problem with dying would be that the inner would take the color really well and the outer wouldn't at all (which defeats the purpose).

I don't think it will take color very well.  The shell is polyester which doesn't absorb liquid well.  Try it and report back to us!  Good luck.
