Lap vs. another try for IUI

I had my HSG last week and found that while one tube is totally clear, the other appears completely blocked. I'm meeting with my RE today to discuss next steps and wanted to hear what your doctors told those of you with a blockage on one side. It sounds like some people are advised to try IUI again (we did one and it failed, which is when they suggested the HSG) if/ when they ovulate on the open tube side, and that others are told to go straight for Lap. Did your RE tell you the advantages/ disadvantages of either path? Thanks for your insight!
TTC since 8/10.Hypothyroidism, put on Synthroid. Clomid 50 mg + IUI Oct '11 = BFN. HSG found blocked tube Nov '11. Lap + Hysteroscopy to remove tube and fix septum Dec '11. Cancelled following cycle due to lack of response to Clomid. Jan/Feb '12 Clomid 100mg + Folllitism + HSG + Vivelle Dot + IUI #2 = BFN. 3/30/12: Natural Cycle BFP - beta 59 @ 12dpo, beta 286 @ 16dpo Baby boy arrived 12/8/12!

    My tubes are not blocked, but for some reason I've had two ectopic pregnancy's.  For that reason my RE is suggesting not doing anymore IUI's.  I really don't know if having a totally blocked tube increases your chances of an ectopic, but that is something I would be concerned about.

    BFP!   11/16/12 U/S- Two nuggets with perfect heartbeats! EDD 7/10/13

    I'd ask about a repeat HSG. Many times the test itself will clear out the blockage, otherwise you may want to do the lap, as they could find other issues in there as well. If you aren't out of pocket for an IUI, then you could try one more time, but you may utimately end up having to do the lap anyway. If you have specific questions about the procedure, let me know.
