Bringing babies home separately

Tomorrow one of my twins comes home, and the other Friday :) I am so so happy, but I'm afraid once I get to the hospital I'll get upset because of the other staying there the extra two days.  Anyone had experience with this? i know it's only 2 days, but I'm just afraid that my emotions will get the best of me.

Re: Bringing babies home separately

  • My girls came home a day apart but that was a surprise to me.  We got the call that one was coming home.  We stayed at the hospital the night before with her.  And then left early the next morning.  And yes, it was hard and sucked that we had to leave one there.  Then later that day, we got the call that she could come home the next day.  I guess she didnt want to be there alone without her sister.

So yes, again, it will suck and you probably will cry.  Just remember, he will be home soon.  Good luck!

  • Ian came home after an 8 day NICU stay. Jack was there for 23 days. I had about 2 weeks with Ian at home and Jack in the hospital. Not going to lie, it sucked and I felt guilty all the time. When I was bonding with Ian, I was feeling guilty about leaving Jack in the hospital without his mommy. When I was with Jack, I felt like I wasn't giving enough attention to Ian. It was definitely tough, but once Jack came home, all was right with the world. Almost 8 months later, I don't feel more attached to Ian than Jack, even though I had him all to myself for 2 weeks while Jack was still in NICU. Congrats on bringing your babies home, even if it's 2 days apart!
