This is not in any way a post to start a vaccine debate. Has anyone's LO had their vaccines while on antibiotics?
DS is scheduled to get his 2nd flu shot and the MMR on Thursday. He will be on day 9 of meds by then for a sinus infection. I have checked with the Pedi twice on this and he says it is fine. I trust him, but for some reason I just feel real iffy about it anyways.
So, have you/would you have your child get their scheduled vaccines while on antibiotics?
Re: Vaccines while on antibiotics?
Me either, but he isn't sick anymore, I just have to finish the meds per the instructions.
My other issue is that the next time they can get him in isn't for another month because of the Holidays and other set appointments. He may get sick again in a month if I just keep waiting.
I guess I just want someone to tell me they did it and their kid was 100% fine afterwards.
DD was on a course of antibiotics at her 12mo well visit. We skipped the MMR and Chickenpox vaccine. I expressed a little concern, and her pedi said everything would most likely be fine, but since 15mo is still within the recommended age for both of these shots, we delayed them to her 15mo appointment. At her 12mo, we did get her first flu shot, and her last DTap, IPV, and HIB shot (pentacel). She seemed to do fine.
The MMR would be the only one that would worry me, but, since symptoms (if any) don't seem to show up til 10-14 days later, you may be ok since (i assume) your LO won't be on antibiotics by then.
