Anyone have an IUD removal story?

I'm having mine removed this afternoon and I'm not sure what to expect. Any with previous experience? Bleeding? Cramping? Should I just buy a bottle of wine on the way home, put on my pj's and call it a night? I'm sure DH would be thrilled with that!Smile

  • Mine was a non-event.  Well, besides getting pregnant shortly after having it removed (Mirena)

  • Thanks for the feedback Laura. I'm just a bit nervous. Mine is a Mirena, too.

  • Had my mirena removed in July and had mild cramping the rest of the day... nothing more than light period cramps. But watch out for that wine and your hubby... many women get pregnant quickly after IUD removal. Only took one full cycle for us. Best of luck :)

  • This is good to know, as I would like it for DH to get a vesectomy, so i can off BC! Right now I have the Mirena insrtd, and don't love it.

Embarrassed Uh, yeah, that's true. Twice. And wine was involved both times. See #2 and #3. Mine was the regular IUD, so no side effects. Just less cramping with Aunt Flo.

If he does, get it checked, checked, and checked again. I swear, they should get checked yearly or more often until we hit menopause. And even after for good measure.
