How long does it take for HCg to leave your system after D&C?

Just had my D&C yesterday. I should have been about 9 weeks. One week prior, around 8 weeks, we found out that our baby had stopped developing around 7 weeks. While my pregnancy symptoms have been slowly waning over the last week, I still get nauseated from time to time, my boobs are still sore and I'm still waking up multiple times per night to pee.

I started temping again this morning (since we were advised to TTA until AF resumes) and my temperature was 98.13, which is on the high side for me, making me think I still have a fair amount of pregnancy hormones in me. Anyone know how long those take to finally leave altogether? I do have some HPTs, but would like to save them for when we really need them once we start trying agsin; plus, I think seeing a positive would be too emotionally challenging for me. I want to save all my BFP memories for happy ones, if that makes sense.

Sorry for your loss!! I got my period 7 weeks after my D&C (would have been around 12 wks). It took me seven weeks to get my period, and I tested positive until the sixth week on an hpt. I hope this helps! Everyone is different though, some ladies went down within a month or so.

I had my D&C at 10 weeks (10/13) and AF came 11/13. Hopefully it isnt too long for your AF to come!

I'm sorry for your loss. Your story is really similar to mine. It took 4 months for my hcg levels to get to negative (blood). Urine tests were negative once they got to the 20s at about 3 months out. However, I did have periods and even ovulate during this time. I don't think my situation is typical, but I wish I had known ahead of time that it could take that long because it was really hard to deal with. Good luck to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I got a light but clear positive on a HPT at 8 days post D&C, and a stark white BFN 13 days post D&C. So, for me, I think it took about two weeks to drop. I am not having blood levels drawn, though.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had my D&C at 11 weeks, I still had full blown pg symptoms going into surgery, and got AF four weeks later. As hard as it is, give it some time. {{HUGS}}

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, this is a sucky boat to be in. There's no real rule for how long it takes your hCG to drop. I was still testing positive on an OPK at about 9 days after my D+E. However, thing sgot back to normal very shortly after that. I O'd on CD 21 that cycle, and got my period at CD 31, which is only slightly longer than normal for me. So, for me, it wasn't too long at all!

My doc told me that the hormone starts decreasing when your placenta detaches, but for those without a placenta yet, I'm not sure what the deal is. I hope AF comes quickly for you!
