December 2011 Moms

It finally happened!

I've been lucky, I guess, that I haven't gotten any comments about my size until now. My co-workers love the "any day now!" line, but that doesn't both me because it's true.

Last Friday, we went to a wedding and during the cocktail hour a woman I've met once before came up to me and said, "Looks like it could be twins!" :/

Re: It finally happened!

  • Ugh. Don't you just want to say "Or just one normal sized baby, a-hole."  I feel like people have no idea how big women with twins can really be when they say that stupid stuff.

  • I went to a petting zoo with some friends yesterday and got two comments each within about 15 minutes of each other. I got asked if I was packing a watermelon, and then asked if I was trying to smuggle a few of the animals out under my shirt.

  • I don't understand why people need to be so rude!

  • I think its funny when people say stuff like that to me...But I also have a weird sense of humor. I get comments like that all the time here- I know alot of people in town from my last job (payday loans, if that tells you anything). I usually get the "twins" comment or if they're the farming types I get asked when I plan on calving. I don't think anyones says that stuff to be intentionally rude- they're just trying to talk to ya =)

  • I actually miss the pregnancy comments sometimes!  Today, while buying something at BRU, the cashier says, here's a gift receipt for the mom, make sure you give it to her!  I said sure, I'll give it to me, since I'm the mom.  Surely I look pregnant by now.  If I wear tight shirts it's apparent but today I wore a less fitted dress and no one even noticed.  I think at this far into pregnancy, that's just as bad!

I had that happen at the dentist - they needed to do some x-rays, and I asked for two lead drapes. The tech was like, "Why?" and I had to point out that I was (at-the-time) 34 weeks pregnant. Three weeks later, and apparently I'm now massive. :)

  • Sometimes I think people just don't know what to say!  They should always err on the side of careful and not say anything at all.  The ones that think it's okay to say something are usually strangers.  Just think, it's almost over!

  • A coworker of mine said "wow, I feel so skinny standing next to you.  It's been a long time since I felt that way."  Gee, thanks, glad I could brighten your day.  LOL!

I agree with you! I like when people say stuff to me too no matter what it is. People are much more friendly when you are pregnant. They smile and engage you I think it is nice. Even if they are comparing me to livestock;)

  • I had a lady today while standing in line say " Boy, when is your baby due?!" and I replied...oh three and a half weeks to go! Her eyes got big and she goes "oh, Wow, do you think you're going to make it?"

And I'm a petite person! I wanted to look at her and say no, I think I'll have my water break right here on your shoe.
