mastitis- update and question.

I think that biotch got me again.  I feel awful.

:( 

Update and question: About an hour ago I took 3 advil.  I feel much better now (body not sore and achy... well, not as much) but my boob is still hot and sore.  Do you think I might not have mastitis?  Last time there wasn't enough advil in the world that would have made me feel better.  Pharmacy hasn't filled the script yet so I haven't taken any antibiotics.

    Oh no!!!!!!!  Is it because you're weaning off the pump?  I got it for the forth time when I was doing that.  :(   Maybe wean off it even more gradually?  It took me more than a month to completely wean off the pump because of the recurrent infections.  :(  Did you get an rx for some antibiotics?  I hope you feel better soon!!

    Yes, that's why.  I only pumped twice yesterday.  I think I need to go back to pumping 3x a day and just pump for shorter amounts of time over a longer period.  Bah!

    I called and they are going to phone some medi in.

    Suck! I'm sorry! I only ever had a clogged duct and that was bad enough. Glad you're getting meds and sounds like a good plan to wean yourself slower off the pump. You're obviously still producing a lot of milk (yay), so your body will just need a more gradual slow down. Hope you feel better soon.

    No, you probably do have mastitis.  This is exactly the way I feel when I had it both times--achy, sore (and feverish), but I felt better when I took ibuprofen.  Boob was still hot and hard (uh-huh-huh).  I would start the antibiotics as soon as you get them and take the ibuprofen as needed.  Mastitis sucks.
