Good Morning! I hope everyone is feeling good today. Congratulations to Astarmc on her baby girl, London Dean, who was born 11/10/11! Proof positive for bed rest! Doingitright - support in getting your nurses changed. There are few things worse than being stuck in a hospital with a nurse you don't like (I listed one on my "birth plan" that is NOT allowed to treat me when I deliver - don't want to offend anyone but it just isn't worth the increase in stress levels). And the general consensus is, we all are either barefoot or sporting flip flops these days. ![]()
If you're just joining us on bed rest, please join in the discussion and introduce yourself. ![]()

Re: Daily Bed Rest Check-In (Tues) 11/15/11
Congrats Astarmc on baby London!!!
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission?
I have never been much for formal exercise... I started to pick up running once and did run a 5K but quickly fell off the wagon after that. I do enjoy staying active though and enjoy taking walks. I can't wait until I can do that again (of course by then it will be way too cold to be outside...)
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?"
My belly button has been a goner for a long time! It was an innie before but I always had a "button".. at least that's what I called it. It looked like it maybe should have been an outie. So I pretty much knew as soon as there was enough uterus pushing out on it then it would be a lost cause! Oh well.
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO?
DH and I are in the process of ordering the girls Christmas presents! We have already bought them clothes, nursery furniture and essentials... but the toys are what's really fun
So what if they will only be 3-5 weeks old?! They need presents to open on their first Christmas!
4. Updates & Vents
None today! Just floating along....
Congrats and welcome to the world, London!!!
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission?
I love reformer pilates - I've been part of a Tuesday night group for a few years and miss it terribly right now!
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?"
It's an innie - looks like it's about half-way to popping out.
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO?
We were at a street fair this summer and got a "Made in Detoit" onsie - it's a really popular clothing line that Kid Rock owns. We thought it was funny because this little guy was litterly "made in Detroit" in an embryology lab!
4. Updates & Vents
I have an interesting visitor this afternoon - a "pregnancy concierge". I think my friend was trying to do my a favor by giving this woman my number, but I think it's a bit much, to put it mildly. I was just looking for a referral for a night nurse. But anyway - "free consultation" today - I'll report back later! Should be good for some laughs!
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission?- I hope to get back into running asap..we'll see how it goes!
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?" -my belly button has certainly popped (I am in my 33rd week)
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO?- Hmmm...I have no idea! We have so many little toys and talking stuffed animals from our shower- I think it was guests' guilty pleasure buys since we are team green and they couldn't really do much in the way of baby clothes shopping.
4. Updates & Vents- I feel like I'm turning to jello, but other than that doing well!
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission?
RUNNING! Then yoga, weights and swimming...but running is what I miss the most and can't wait to get back to. I guess the dr will probably make me start with walking though....boring! LOL...
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?"
It's an "innie" but for the past two months it looks like the right side wants to pop out and is halfway there. Just make up your mind already - either stay in or pop!
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO?
Amazingly, haven't bought one thing for him yet, but have been spending my hours cross-stitching a birth announcement that will go in a frame on his bed room wall.
4. Updates & Vents
Stroller system courtesy of Great-Grandma arrived which includes the car seat so we can officially take a baby home with us when the time comes. I'm feeling much better today, which is making it even harder to resist the urge to use the new rubbermaid spray mop that just arrived too...please oh please can I just clean my floors if I promise not to move my pelvis??!!
Happy Cooking, everyone!

1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission?
Pre-bedrest, the only exercise I was doing while pregnant was prenatal yoga, which I may or may not resume. However, pre-pregnancy, I loved Jillian Michaels workout DVDs, and plan to pick those back up as soon as I can after LO arrives. Also, my sister and I are planning to walk a half-marathon in May.
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?"
Oh yes....definitely makes a little bump under my shirt!
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO?
DH and I haven't had to purchase him anything yet because my mom seems to be singlehandedly trying to outfit him, LOL. However, I imagine it will be some kind of sports-related clothing, so he can cheer on our favorite teams with his daddy.
4. Updates & Vents
Nothing to report - it's a no news is good news kind of day!
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission? I had just started getting into Zumba when I found out I was pregnant. I had a small bleed in the beginning, so had to hold off on the Zumba until it went away. After the wait I ended up "being too busy" to start going again and then I was put on bedrest. I'm looking forward to going again.
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?" It's currently flat - not an innie, but not quite popped out yet.
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO? About the only thing we've bought for him so far is his crib, and I got that shortly after I found out I was pregnant. My sister did get him the cutest little footed outfit.
4. Updates & Vents: Don't really have either to report.
Amelia is going to be a big sister!
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission?
I used to walk our dogs daily and go out on bike rides. I miss it so much, especially since the fall weather is actually pretty nice recently. Once I deliver I plan to get out walking as soon as possible.
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?"
Mine is pretty much flat. It was always an outie, so it's been pretty much gone for a few weeks now.
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO?
One of the first things we bought were Baby Gap onsies with bulldogs on the front. DH was in love with them!
4. Updates & Vents:
I got to go into work for a bit today which was great! I'm a nurse and we had someone coming in to speak about vaccines and the new schedual which was started a few months before I was put on bedrest. I learned a lot!
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission? Ummm...I mainly just walked. I would like to get back into running and Zumba once I an released. I will definitely need some me time after having the twins and I am hoping to use some of that time to workout.
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?" Nope, mine is still in. People think that I should be bigger.
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO? Ummm....I am not sure. I had hats made for them for their first pictures.
4. Updates & Vents Ummmm....I told one of the head nurses about the nurse that I would prefer not to have anymore. I cannot believe that I spoke up for myself. I am usually not very confrontational. I also asked about attending a child birth class. I cannot attend a class, but they are going to get me a bunch of movies to watch so that I can have my own little class. This is all becoming so real. I just hope that we can hold off and have a regular birth!!! My pre-e just has everyone worried.
I am new to the group, starting my third week of bed rest tomorrow due to short cervix and cerclage. I am presently on hospital bed rest, but hope to get to go home if there are no big changes in the coming weeks.
1. Before bed rest, I was a frequent walker. Before becoming pregnany, a runner. I can't wait to get outside and back on my feet.
2. The bump is still pretty small, so belly button remains in.
3. The first gift was an adorable newborn onsie.
4. No vents, just trying to collect as much information as possible, remain calm and wait, wait, wait.
1. What is your favorite type of exercise (pre-bed rest of course) and do you plan to pick it back up as soon as you have doctor's permission?
- I loved cross training & riding my bike w/ DD, we have a front seat for her to ride in and it's really just a blast having a little co-pilot on rides.
2. What is the status of your belly button...has it "popped?"
- Innie, never popped w/ DD either.
3. What is the first gift you got (or plan to get) for your LO?
- Don't know, but I did start designing his birth announcements today
I put his arrival date as his 40 due date just to try and stay positive
4. Updates & Vents
- Having a rough time not being able to take care of my kid. Mothers guilt x 100. Oh, and realizing that when you tell people you're on BR a lot will say, "If you need ANYTHING, just ask..." but they don't really mean it
Cerclage placed @ 21w6d due to CI (IC)
