Poor sick DD

Anything else I should do for her? She's been vomiting for two days now. The soonest the doctor could get us in was tomorrow at 9:15. She's puked up everything - water, milk, pedialite, rice cereal, crackers, pears, yogurt and toast- everything bland I could think of. I'm hoping she sleeps okay tonight. I'm just really worried. :( We are pushing the fluids but not even water stays down.

Re: Poor sick DD

  • I would stop pushing everything and let her system rest. Your appt is today so I am sure a few more hours won't hurt, but if she seems lethargic or dehydrated then take her to the ER for fluids.

General rule is to not give them anything while they are puking. Then offer tiny sips of water until they can hold down more. Pedialyte  is too darn sweet, R threw that up too when he was sick. I would try gatorade instead once she can hold something down. Her belly doesn't want anything, bland or not.

    Hope she feels better soon!

  • Awww I hope your DD feels better really soon! I second pedialyte, too sweet. Sw have only had 1 bout with vomiting. The only thing that helped was gripe water. I hope your appt goes well.

  • I agree with June- let her tummy rest and then do gatorade (I had to do that with L- I diluted it with water though)

I'm sorry she's sick- hope she feels better soon!

  • Coming in late with this, but I myself have had luck with pedialyte freezer pops! They aren't as sweet and stay down better for some reason. GL!
