I'm so excited!! We finally have decided on our doula after interviewing a couple women.
The first woman that we interviewed would have been good and had a lot of experience but she was very loud and was not very calming. DH didn't "click" with her and she talked more to me than both of us. I liked her, but DH was very clear right after she left that he wanted for us to keep looking. At this point I realized how crucial it was going to be to find someone that he felt comfortable around as well. He wants to participate but tends to back off with certain personalities. We knew that she was not our doula.
The second woman was WONDERFUL! I was a little skeptical because I had heard some mixed reviews about her from personal friends. One had loved her and one wouldn't hire her again. Our personalities definitely clicked. She seems very supportive and encouraging, but not combative. This is definitely what we were looking for. I knew that she would be it because when she left, DH said "We should invite her over again!" Haha! I know that they will make an excellent team together to support me and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Even though it's going to be expensive, I think it will be worth it in the end.
Any experience of having a doula that I should discuss with her before hand?
