We've been waiting for MRI results all day and they just came. She has significant brain damage on both sides. They will talk to a neurologist tomorrow about what the outcome will be. ![]()
ETA: just talked to another SIL (there are 5) and she gave me more details. The doctors are saying that because she's so young parts of her brain that are undeveloped might compensate for parts that are damaged. We won't really know how bad it is until they take her off the machines..and they are going to try on Friday and Saturday.
They have their last paycheck coming in on Friday and we're thinking of pitching in to buy gift cards to sell raffle tickets for.

re: your ETA-
Fuckyeah brain plasticity! What the brain can compensate for is so amazing. I know just from linguistics that even though language is primarily localized in the left hemisphere, there are epileptic children who have had their entire left hemisphere removed and still developed language because the right brain adapts.
Continuing to pray hard for this little girl.
I hope your BIL and SIL are hanging in there. I get dizzy just thinking about what they're going through.
I'm sorry to hear you all are going through this.
Sending tons of thoughts and dust to your family!
