Help! Stuffed animals are taking over DS's bed!

I'm looking for ideas, ladies. Where do I put the stuffed animals that are currently strewn all over C's bed? It's getting pretty ridiculous when we look in the video monitor and we can't find him :) Do I get a large basket for his room to throw them in? Or is it pointless since he will just take them all out and bring them back into bed with him?

  • I get rid of stuffed animals constantly.  I personally hate them and want to pass that dislike on to my kids.  They have tiny ones they sleep with and one or two big ones, but most of the ones they've been given have been donated.  The others I haven't parted with yet are in a bin in the closet, so "out of sight, out of mind".  I say hide quite a few and then rotate them out periodically.

I wish I could help. Did you not see the pic on FB I posted where Nico wants Bevo (who is bigger than him) to sleep next to him? I hate stuffed animals and I do try to donate most of them the ones we do have are big. They do take up half his full size bed. I would try the out of site method. When I want to get rid of toys I store them in the garage for a few weeks. If they don't miss them they get moved to goodwill or some other donation place.
  • I want to make one of these things

THE ZOO Stuffed Animal Storage by Littlezookeepers

    .
  • Boon has a stuffed animal bean bag that I am planning on getting the kids as a Hanukkah present.
  • We have an older version of this.  Ours has three zippered sides, so he can easily turn it around and find the "friends" he wants to get out.  It's vented, so I didn't worry in those toddler days when I enforced "quiet time" but he didn't nap and he would instead entertain himself quietly by emptying out the animals and crawling inside.  It also doubles as a pretty comfortable piece of furniture in his room.

  • Ikea! They sell hanging tiered mesh baskets for $7 that are designed to hold light toys and are beyond perfect for storing all those stuffed animals your LO can't bear to part with. They're in the kids section all over the place.
  • Great suggestions. Thanks all!
