Are all FL's HE?

This might be really dumb but my parents have had their FL for like 5 years and I don't remember HE machines/detergent being popular back then (but I was only 18 so I guess I didn't really pay attention).  Sooooo my question is - are all front loaders HE?  And do I need to use HE detergent to wash for like a week in their machine?  Thanks for the help!!

    To my knowledge all FLs are HE but I am not positive. If it is a HE, yes, you will need to use HE detergent. It is low sudsing and non-HE detergent could damage the machine and/or make a giant mess.  Most CD-friendly detergents are HE anyway though.
