I was just explaining to DS how we live in our town, which is in our county, which is in our state, which is in the US, which is in North America, which is one of 7 continents.  He seemed really interested then he wandered off to play with his dinosaurs.

You are not a nerd.  You are raising your child to be aware of his place in the universe, history, etc.

We've already purchased a huge US map that I intend to hang on the playroom wall so the boy gets an idea of our country.  We also plan to take lots of family vacations to historic places so he can appreciate our history.  So far, he's visited something like a dozen different states.  Picked up two more this past weekend.

We're nerds, too.

That is awesome. And yeah, we have an inflatable globe and he can already identify India, where my best friend lives, and Japan, where another friend came to visit from. He can't identify where we live or England, the only place he's flown to, but whatevs.

I also had a laminated map framed  so we can hang it in his room and pin where he's been.

Nerds rule!

I speak geek quite well. I am sent to converse with our IT guys all the time. Is it wrong to pass geek speak to your kids too?? I love Discovery Channel.

If ya'all are geeks then I am your queen.  And everyone is geeky about something.  My brother protested he was not a geek until he got the Star Wars Triva game as a gift and he knew ALL the names of ALL the ships even if they only on the screen for like 30 seconds.
